End mission report
The Tropicaldoctor team thanks Cuamm for the organization and the facilities that allowed our specific training and visits to nearby hospitals realizing the country’s infrastructure and the potential of some health centers.
The team:
- trained on “primary emergency care” 12 + 9 health workers respectively in Aber and Anyeke centers and achieved its purpose because all the partecipants had good results especially about practical procedures and skills (despite occasional language difficulties);
- identified 3-4 players with attitudes to emergency maneuvers and airway management that could be candidates for anesthesia technician training (possibly through an internship recognized in Uganda in hospital departments validated for case studies and level);
- made available its expertise only on emergency cases having no license to practice by the Ministry of Health; so evaluated and treated 2 emergency patients;
- assessed some wards of the hospitals of Anyeke and Aber drawing some considerations/suggestions available on request;
- also assessed some wards of Lacor Gulu hospital and Lira hospital; in accordance with Lacor hospital’s executive director a specific training on ICU and casualty wards will start in the next months;
- carried medical supplies to the two centers.
